Overview
Subscriptions let users choose which Outbound Email lists they receive. For example, a user can unsubscribe from your newsletter and keep receiving product announcements.
Create a Subscription for each type of email, then select it when you create an Outbound Email.
Your Workspace also includes a premade Updates Subscription for product Update emails. Manage that list here; you do not need to create a second Updates list.
Create a Subscription
Choose how users join the list:
Opt-in: Users are unsubscribed by default and must be subscribed before they can receive emails from the list
Opt-out: Users are subscribed by default and can unsubscribe from the list
The consent type cannot be changed after creation.
Click 'New subscription'
Enter a name and an optional description that explain which emails the list includes. Users see these on their email preferences page
Choose the Consent type, then click 'Create subscription'
Open the Subscription's menu and click 'Set live'
The Subscription is now available for Outbound Emails and appears on users' email preferences pages.
Choose a Subscription for an Email
Open your Email in Outbound
Under Content, open Subscription
Select the live Subscription that matches the email
Featurebase checks each user's preferences before sending. Creating a Subscription does not add it to existing Emails.
Important: If you select None, the Email has no list-specific consent check. An unsubscribe action from the recipient's email client then unsubscribes them from all emails.
Manage users' preferences
How users change their preferences
Users can open the email preferences link in an email to turn individual Subscriptions on or off. Turning on Unsubscribe from all emails blocks all Outbound Emails, even if an individual Subscription is on.
To check the page before sending, click 'Preview unsubscribe page' in your Subscription settings. The preview does not save preference changes.
Update preferences from a user profile
Open the user in the Users directory
Under Email preferences, select Subscription
Turn the relevant Subscription on or off
If the user has opted out themselves, the switch is disabled. They must subscribe again from their email preferences page.
Edit or archive a Subscription
Open the Subscription in Settings → Outbound → Subscriptions to edit its name or description.
Use 'Archive' in its menu when you no longer want to offer the list for new Emails. You can restore it with 'Set live'. Archived Subscriptions still apply to Emails that already use them.
You can delete a Subscription only while it is a draft.
