Overview
A custom domain gives your customer-facing Featurebase site an address such as feedback.example.com or help.example.com. Save the domain for the surface you want to host, add its DNS record, then check the connection in Featurebase.
You need access to your domain's DNS settings. If another teammate manages your domain, send them the record shown during setup.
Connect a custom domain
1. Choose the surface
Go to Settings → Customer Portal → Custom domains and choose the tab for the surface you want to host:
Feedback Portal: The address for your feedback, Roadmap, and Updates portal
Ticket portal: A separate address for the Ticket Portal, such as
tickets.example.comHelp Center: The address for the selected Help Center, such as
help.example.com. You can also manage it under Domain in Settings → Help Center → General
If you have more than one Help Center, choose it under Pick a help center on the Help Center tab. Each Help Center belongs to a brand, so check which one your customers use. If a tab is missing, enable or configure that product first.
Note: Use a separate hostname for each surface you host. A hostname already connected elsewhere must be disconnected there before you can reuse it.
2. Save the domain in Featurebase
Enter the hostname in Custom domain, without
https://or a page pathClick 'Save'
The Ticket Portal address must be a subdomain, such as tickets.example.com. If Featurebase shows an upgrade prompt, review the available options before continuing.
3. Add the DNS record
Open your domain provider's DNS settings
Add a CNAME record for the subdomain you entered
Set its destination to
customdomains.featurebase.appSave the record
For example, to connect feedback.example.com in the DNS zone for example.com, use feedback as the record name and customdomains.featurebase.app as its destination. Your provider may call the destination Content, Target, or Value.
4. Check the connection
Return to Featurebase and check SSL Certificate Status. Click 'Refresh' to check again after you update DNS.
CNAME required: Featurebase cannot yet see a CNAME record that points the saved hostname to
customdomains.featurebase.app. Check the record name and destination at your DNS providerpending validation: The domain or certificate is still being validated. Allow the DNS change to take effect, then refresh
active: Open the address with
https://and check that it shows the expected portal or Help Center
Important: Do not share the new address until it opens the correct customer-facing site.
Change your Featurebase subdomain
Your default Featurebase address is separate from a custom domain. To change the yourworkspace part of yourworkspace.featurebase.app:
Open the Workspace tab
Under Workspace address, change Workspace subdomain
Click 'Change' and follow the progress page
Note: The subdomain is used by both your dashboard and your Customer Portal address. The old address does not redirect, so update integrations and links that contain it after the change.
