Overview
Changelog is a useful tool that lets you publish product updates for your users to see in one place. This keeps everyone updated and shows that you are continuously improving and listening.
You can subscribe users to the changelog and send them email notifications about the latest releases. You can also embed the changelog into your app or website using various methods.
Creating changelog categories
Set up changelog categories to show users the type of update and to filter releases:
Go to Settings → Changelog
Click ‘New changelog category’ on the top right corner
Choose a name and color and click ‘Add Category’
Subscribing users for email notifications
Subscribing users to your changelog sends them email notifications about new releases. This is one of the most impactful setups you can take for your changelog’s success!
There are three ways to subscribe users to the changelog:
API - Automatically subscribe users to updates using Featurebase API.
SSO - Automatically subscribe users to updates using Single Sign-On (SSO)
Manually - Your users can subscribe to your changelog themselves by clicking the 'Subscribe to Changelog' button at the top left of your live changelog.
👨💻 Setting up the API and SSO is a technical process that requires writing custom code. If you're uncomfortable with this, share these guides with a technical team member who can assist.
Creating changelog posts
To create and write a new changelog post:
Go to Dashboard → Changelog
Click on New Changelog in the top right
Add a featured image, title, categories, and write the content for the update
Once your post is ready, you can choose if you want to:
Send the update to everyone or only certain customer segments
Check the Send email to subscribers option to notify users about the release
Publish now for immediate release or Schedule for later to schedule the release at a certain date and time in the future
Good to know: You can mention people & posts in your changelog release using @
. For example, we use it for minor updates at the end of our releases:
Oh, and don't worry about your work getting lost. Our changelog auto-saves the draft for you.
Multilingual changelog releases
You can set up your Changelog to support multiple languages and publish updates in your customers' native languages.
The public changelog page automatically defaults to the users’ language based on their browser’s language settings. They can also switch between languages manually.

Sharing your changelog
There are three different ways to integrate the changelog into your product.
1. Add a link
The easiest way to share your changelog is to link it to a button or a text in your app. Just copy the URL of your live changelog (e.g. https://feedback.yourcompany.com/changelog
) and paste it where you like on your page or app. You can also share it on social media.
Tip: Many of our customers like to feature their changelogs in their marketing page’s footers and product menus.
2. Changelog widget & popup
The second way is to use our neat
to show the latest updates straight from your app. This is great because it means users don't need to leave your app to see updates. Plus, the changelog popup can be toggled to automatically show users fresh updates when they enter a page.

3. Embedded changelog view
The last method is embedding your changelog directly into your app in its original form, allowing users to see all of your product updates.
