Overview

The Featurebase ↔ Slack integration lets you and your users submit feedback straight from Slack using the /featurebase command for voting, better overview, and prioritization. You can also get notifications about new posts on your Slack channel.

Key features:

  • /featurebase command to let users submit new feedback or upvote an existing post right from Slack (admins can also upvote posts on behalf of users)

  • Save messages as feedback from the chat with a “Send to Featurebase” button

  • Get notified about new Featurebase posts on your Slack channel (and approve posts from Slack if you have Post Moderation enabled)

Example: Your user starts creating a request with the /featurebase command. However, someone has already suggested the same thing, so instead of creating a new post, the user can just vote it. If the feature request doesn’t already exist, they can create a new one - all straight from Slack.

Setting up the Slack integration

  1. In Featurebase, go to Settings → Integrations

  2. Click on Connect to Slack

  3. Press Allow to give Featurebase access to your Slack workspace

  4. We now need to add the Featurebase bot to Slack. To do so, in Slack, right-click on the channel you wish to receive new posts and click on “View channel details

  5. Go to the integrations tab in the channel settings and click “Add an App

  6. Search for Featurebase and click Add

  7. Once the bot has been added, go back to Featurebase Settings → Integrations and click on “Configure Slack”

  8. Choose the same channel you just added the bot to

How to use

1. /featurebase command

You users and you can use the /featurebase command from anywhere in Slack to send feedback straight into Featurebase. Users can either upvote an existing post that is suggested to them or create a completely new one.

Admins can also upvote posts on behalf of users to subscribe them to automatic notifications about the request's progress.

2. “Send to Featurebase” button

To send an existing message to Featurebase, select the "Send to Featurebase" option from the three-dot menu.

Similarly to the /featurebase command, you can edit the message as desired, assign it a title, choose a board, and send it directly to Featurebase.

3. Receive new post updates

You can also start receiving Slack updates about new posts on your Featurebase boards. This is a neat way to stay up to date about the latest user requests.

If you have post moderation enabled, you can also approve or reject posts straight from Slack.

And that's it! 🎉 If you have any ideas about how we can improve the Slack integration, please post on our feedback board.
