Overview

The Feedback widget lets customers submit feedback from your website or web app. They can include a screenshot, complete your category's form fields, and find similar Requests while they write.

Use the embedded Feedback Portal when you want a full feedback browsing experience inside a page instead of a focused submission widget.

Set up the Feedback widget

1. Enable and install the widget

Installing the widget requires a code change in your website or web app.

  1. Go to Settings → Requests → Collection → All channels and click 'Enable' beside In-app widget

  2. Open In-app widget and click 'Installation guide'

  3. Follow the Feedback widget installation guide to add the SDK and configure how customers open the widget

The installation guide is also available from Settings → Workspace → Developers. Keep In-app widget enabled in Collection so the widget can accept submissions.

2. Customize the submission experience

Open Settings → Requests → Collection → In-app widget.

Wording and language: Edit the 'Title' and 'Description' under Wording. Changes save automatically. Your developer can set the widget's locale to match your product's language; Managing feedback in multiple languages covers the language settings.

Submission options: Under Additional options, choose what the widget allows:

  • 'Guest submissions': Accept feedback without requiring sign-in

  • 'Screenshots': Let customers attach a screenshot to their Request

  • 'Suggestions': Show similar Requests and help articles while customers write

  • 'Portal link': Show a link to the Feedback Portal after submission

Form fields: Review your categories and their form fields. The widget uses these fields to collect the extra information you need for each kind of Request.

Before you turn on 'Guest submissions', use guest participation settings to understand the identity and notification limits.

Notes:

  • If you have enabled multiple feedback languages, select the language before editing its wording

  • 'Guest submissions' is shared with the Feedback Portal, so changing it here also changes it for the portal

3. Identify customers

Identify signed-in customers so their feedback is associated with the customer using your product. The identification guide covers installation and identity verification.

4. Test a submission

Open the widget in your product and make a test submission. Check the complete path:

  • The widget opens from the intended button or launcher

  • The title, description, theme, and language fit the page

  • The expected categories and required fields are available

  • Screenshots and suggestions behave as configured

  • The submitted feedback appears in Featurebase with the expected customer identity

Tip: Test from an actual customer session. Your teammate session is not a substitute for checking customer identification and access.
