General
Where do Surveys appear?
Surveys appear on your webpage or in your web app through the Survey widget when the person matches the Survey's rules.
Use Surveys for in-product feedback at the moment a customer is using your product.
Can I use Surveys in a mobile app?
No. The Survey widget works on webpages and web apps, not iOS or Android mobile apps.
Which Survey question types are supported?
Featurebase currently supports the following Survey types:
Text - collect an open-ended written answer
Link - send the customer to another URL with a button
Rating - collect a score with NPS, Number rating, or Emoji rating
Multiple choice - collect structured selections with Featurebase posts or Regular multiple choice
Use one page per question or action. If you need follow-up questions or branching, configure the page flow with After this page logic.
Do Survey audiences update after launch?
Yes. Surveys use dynamic audiences. Featurebase keeps checking who matches while the Survey is active, so people can enter or leave the audience as their attributes and page context change.
For audience setup, see Targeting & triggering surveys.
Targeting and scheduling
Which trigger conditions can show a Survey?
Surveys can use these trigger conditions:
Current page URL
Time on page (seconds)
CSS selector
If you do not add trigger rules, the Survey can run on any visit where the person matches the audience, frequency, and schedule.
Use audience rules and page-based triggers together to control who sees the Survey and where it appears.
Can the same person see a Survey more than once?
Yes, depending on the Survey's Frequency and scheduling settings.
Survey messages can use:
Send once when the person matches the rules
Send based on a fixed schedule if the person matches the rules
Send every time the person matches the rules until dismissed
For every-match Surveys, the Survey can show again when the person matches the rules unless they dismiss it or a limit stops it. Use match limits, maximum sends, and stop conditions to avoid showing the same Survey too often.
Will a dismissed Survey show again?
No. If a person dismisses a Survey, Featurebase does not show that same Survey to them again.
This also applies to every-match Surveys. Every-match can show the Survey again when a person matches the rules, but not after that person dismisses it.
How do start dates, stop dates, and send-time windows work?
Use Frequency and scheduling to control when the Survey can run.
You can configure:
Start sending - choose Immediately or Custom date
Stop sending - choose Never or Custom date
When to send - choose Any time, During office hours, Outside office hours, or Custom times
Send frequency - choose send once, recurring schedule, or every-match delivery
Scheduled dates and custom-time windows use your workspace timezone. If the Survey has a future start date, click Schedule. If it starts immediately, click Set live.
Use Pause to stop a live Survey from reaching new people. Use Unschedule to move a scheduled Survey back to draft.
Responses and results
Are partial answers saved in multi-question Surveys?
Yes. Featurebase saves submitted answers as the person completes Survey pages.
If someone answers one page and leaves before finishing later pages, the completed page answers can still appear in the Responses view and CSV export.
How do branching and follow-up questions affect responses?
Branching controls which page the person sees next after a specific answer. For each page, you can send matching answers to another page, the next page, or the end of the Survey.
Responses only include pages the person completed. If two people take different branches, their response rows can include different sets of answered questions.
Where can I view Survey results?
Open the Survey message and click Responses in the header.
The Responses view can show individual responses, displayed count, dismissed count, NPS score, average rating, and multiple-choice distributions. For multi-page Surveys, filter by All answers or by a specific Survey page.
You can also filter by timeframe, including all time, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly views.
Can I export Survey responses?
Yes. In the Responses view, choose the question filter and timeframe you want, then click Export CSV.
CSV exports include respondent details, submitted time, and answer columns for the selected Survey pages. If you export All answers, the CSV includes one answer column for each Survey page. If you export one question, the CSV includes that question's answer column.
Survey response exports are capped at 10,000 responses per export. If an export reaches the cap, narrow the timeframe or question filter and export again.
For the full export workflow, see View & export Survey results.
Translations and editing
Can I translate a Survey?
Yes. In the Survey's Content section, use Editing for [language] to switch the language you are editing.
Translate the customer-facing fields that appear in the Survey:
Page titles
Descriptions
Text placeholders
Rating labels
Multiple-choice options
Link button text and redirect URLs
If the customer's language is not supported by the Survey, Featurebase falls back to English.
Can I edit a Survey after it has responses?
You can save changes while the Survey is editable, but avoid changing the meaning of questions after responses start coming in. Changing questions or answer options can make older and newer responses harder to compare.
Some question settings are locked after responses exist. For example, the Survey type setting for rating and multiple-choice pages cannot be changed after getting responses, and new multiple-choice options cannot be added after responses exist.
If the Survey is live, review the response history before making changes that affect analysis.
How do I stop, unschedule, or delete a Survey?
Use the action that matches the Survey state:
Click Pause to stop a live Survey from reaching new people
Click Unschedule to move a scheduled Survey back to draft
Open the Survey menu and click Delete to remove a Survey
Deleting a Survey cannot be undone. If you only want to stop collecting responses, pause the Survey instead.
