    Hey everyone,

Great news! You can now add alt texts and captions to images in the help center and changelog editor. 🎉

By default the editor will allow you to add a caption, but you can click on the Alt button in the bottom-right corner to add an alt text as well. (You might have to click on the image first to see the option).

I somehow missed this update !!!
Epic news, and a big thank you from the screen reading community!

Captions are great. However, they are currently not used when changelogs are sent by email. This also causes problems with spacing.

Hello any news on this ?
I am getting grilled by my users for not having alt-text on our documentation website … for blind and visually impaired users.

My workaround is to try and include as few images as possible and to caption the images above or below, but when an image exists, the screen-reader reads a load of gibberish :

I understand it might take some time to add a proper alt-text fix to the image (and video – which can be silent) components, but please at the very least add a default aria-label="Image" or perhaps even aria-hidden="true" to the image component so that it doesn’t ramble on forever !

PS: Alt-text is Google’s number one recommendation for image SEO, so it’s not just to help blind people 🥰

    Thank you !!

Hey, I agree. We’ll definitely add them at one point, but we can’t give a concrete deadline yet, as it’s rather nice-to-have. Thanks for the examples! 😉

Hi ! I would argue that this is a must-have for some users who rely on accessibility features, such as blind people with screen readers ! Perhaps to be considered in the context of Improve accessibility
