Also upvoting this. I also have multiple products (each within their own collection) and there are several articles that would be relevant to all (getting started, installation, etc.).

We have multiple products managed by the same team. Each product has overlapping articles so collections is not working for us.

This would make a lot of sense, yet it takes quite a bit of effort on our side, so we are waiting for some more interest before prioritizing it.
