Overview

You can set up your Feedback Portal to support multiple languages. The portal and posts will automatically display in the user's browser language if it's enabled. If you haven't enabled their language, the portal will default to the language you've chosen. Users also have the option to switch languages manually.

Here are the languages we currently support β†’

Notes:

  • AI translations are usage-based. Each workspace includes 250,000 free characters per month, then $0.04 per additional 1,000 characters.

  • Featurebase uses AI and LLM providers for translations. While translations are generally accurate, occasional mistakes can happen. Translation quality is continuously improved.

1. Configuring Feedback Portal’s languages

To add additional languages:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Feedback β†’ Languages

  2. Under Language settings, click + Add Language

  3. From the dropdown, select your desired language(s)

The default language should be the one the majority of your users speak. It’s also the fallback language for visitors whose browsers are set to unsupported languages.

Good to know: Adding supported languages only translates the feedback portal texts. To automatically translate all feedback into your users’ native languages, you can enable automatic feedback translations.

2. Automatic feedback translations

By default, Featurebase shows a translation button on posts that are not in your organization's default language. However, you can also enable automatic translations to show all feedback on the public portal automatically in your users’ native language.

To toggle on the automatic feedback translations:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Feedback β†’ Languages

  2. Make sure you’ve added the desired supported languages

  3. Check Enable Automatic Translation

This will auto-translate feedback on the Public Portal into users' native languages. In your admin dashboard, feedback will still appear in the original language to avoid issues with search functionality.

NB! If content is already in your default language, there won't be a translation button.

Also, this is currently for the post content only. We’re planning to launch comment translations in the future as well.

3. Translating the CTA

Then, customize the CTA texts for all the languages you added:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Feedback β†’ Boards & Typography

  2. Under Typography, select the added language

  3. Customize all the texts for that language to your liking

  4. After the edits, click β€˜Save’ in the bottom right corner

  5. Repeat this process for each language added

4. Translating the board names

Next, customize the feedback board names for all the languages:

  1. Go to Settings β†’ Feedback β†’ Boards & Typography

  2. At the very top, select the desired feedback board

  3. Select the added language next to the board name and add the translation

  4. Click β€˜Save changes’ in the bottom right corner

  5. Repeat this process with all the boards and languages
